What type of music do you play? Mainly upbeat Scottish & Irish folk tunes but also English, Welsh & some continental / American music too. You can choose to focus on one tradition or a combination if preferred.
Are your ceilidhs suitable for beginners? Yes, many of the events we perform at are for those new to ceilidh dancing, however there's often a mix of abilities present & we tailor each ceilidh to suit the dancing level of the guests.
How much do you charge? From £500 upwards depending on the size of band, date and location contact us for a quote.
Do you do ceilidhs for children? Yes we have a show for kids including simple fun dances, ceilidh games with prizes & actions songs for the little ones.
Can we come and watch you perform? Yes - you're welcome to come to Folk Of The Wood our monthly ceilidh in south London - contact us for tickets.
Where do you perform? We're based in London & perform at weddings, ceilidhs & barndances across London, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, Kent & the Uk
Do you have public liability insurance and PAT tested equipment? Yes we do - documentation available on request.
How long do you perform for and how do we structure our event to make the most of the dancing? We normally do 2 or 3 x 45 minute sets of dancing with breaks in between. Send us your event details & we'll suggest the best options.

How much space is required for the dancing & band? We will adjust to whatever space is available and are used to performing in a wide variety of venues. Ideally 2sqft per dancer. For a quartet, the band require 4m x 2m. A raised stage is a welcome bonus if available.
What is the line up for the band? We normally perform as a quartet (3 musicians & caller) which would usually include fiddle, guitar, whistle, banjo & melodeon (with doubling). We do also work with an accordion, percussionist and flute player. We can also offer DJ / Disco sets alongisde the ceilidh.
What dances do you do? We do all the well known ones like Gay Gordons, Strip The Willow, Dashing White Sergeant, Cumberland Square Eigh etc. alongside less well known ones. We plan the dances based upon the space available & ability.
Do you provide a PA system? Yes, this is included in the price. You are welcome to play your music via ipod in between our sets & use our mics for speeches. We are happy to provide a DJ set for you after the ceilidh, on request.
How long does it take you to set up / de-rig? Around 30 minutes and this can also be done relatively quietly.
